Hey there!

Itā€™s time to say goodbye to the iPhone SE. But whatā€™s new and taking its place?

Did you see Apple dropped a very pleasant surprise for that content you have tucked away on old Apple Accounts? More on that below. Plus, thereā€™s a new Invites app, TikTok is back in the US App Store, and we ask whoā€™s paying for subscription calendar apps in the latest Basic AF.

Letā€™s get into it, shall we?

Say hello to the new iPhone 16e.

Apple has dropped the "S," as in iPhone SE, and we have an official new member of the iPhone 16 family.

Hereā€™s what you need to know:

  • A18 chip (same chip family as the iPhone 16)

  • Two colors: Black āš«ļø White āšŖļø

  • 6.1" Super Retina XDR OLED Display

  • Action button

  • Apple Intelligence support

  • Visual Intelligence using Action button

  • A new C1 cellular modem developed by Apple

  • 48MP Fusion camera with 2x telephoto and 4K video

  • Satellite safety features

  • Battery life 12 hours longer than iPhone SE

  • USB-C

  • No MagSafe; Qi charging up to 7.5W (bummer)

  • Cost: 128GB $599, 256GB $699, 512GB $899

  • Pre-order starting at 5:00 a.m. PST tomorrow (2/21)

  • Available starting February 28

While it's more expensive than the iPhone SE it's replacing in the lineup, itā€™s also a modern iPhone and not one made from the parts leftover from previous years.

Finally!

We have wanted the ability to migrate purchases from one Apple Account to another for years. And now we can.

Here are a few of the specifics:

  • You can migrate apps, music, and other content

  • Both Apple Accounts must have Two-Factor Authentication turned on

  • The secondary Apple Account canā€™t be part of a Family Sharing group

  • Youā€™ll need to verify the payment method of the secondary account

  • Not available in the European Union, United Kingdom, or India

You can find all the details and step-by-step instructions to walk you through the process here.

 šŸ¤  News Roundup

Hereā€™s a quick rundown of other recent and noteworthy news:

To wrap things up, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported last week that Apple may delay its new Siri features due to engineering challenges and bugs. Given Siri's history, getting this right is far more important than getting it out the door quickly, so I'd prefer Apple to take its time and release it when it's ready.

By the way, here are the results from the Siri poll in the last newsletter. Thanks to everyone who voted and sent in comments!

Do you think Apple will succeed at improving Siri?
Siri has been bad for a long time. Do you think Apple will get it right with the new features expected this year?
